Superficial: One Strong Female Force

Twenty women from graphic design, illustration, pop and fine art come together in an exhibit that melds these disciplines into one strong feminine force they call “Superficial.”
Opening on August 4, the exhibit features the works of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan president Liza Flores; much-loved children’s book illustrators Pepper Roxas and Abi Goy; established visual artist MM Yu; the crafty, music video makers of Bawal Movement (a company that designs acrylic accessories), Hannah Liongoren, Mara Bernardo, Gabie Osario, and Wiji Lacsamana; young artists Feanne Mauricio, Kara de Dios, and Marie Gan. Lala Gallardo, who drew the award-winning comic “Hika Girl” at the 1st Philippine Graphic/Fiction Awards last year, is also part of the team.
Furniture designers Yo and Osie from Pablo Gallery are also joining the “Superficial” exhibit, as will mixed-media artists Ene Lagunzad, Genie Ranada, Harvard graduate Bea Camacho, and Honey Hipe, who is currently based in Kuwait.
The Philippines’ most prolific design studios are also represented in “Superficial.” They include Joyce Tai from Inksurge, fashion designer Garovs Garrovillo of EveryWhereWeShoot, Katwo Librando of 27+20 (she is likewise the frontwoman for the all-star dance-punk band Duster), Mica Cabildo of Team Manila, and Bru from Electrolychee.
Customized Manikako ragdolls will be auctioned to benefit the Barbing Pinay Foundation.
